Name of the Post – SENIOR GEOLOGIST, in the Directorate of Ground Water Serveys &
Development, Maharashtra Groundwater Services, Group - A
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

1) He shall be required to supervise work both under the survey and investigation and also under
drilling operation being carried out by the District Offices under the Regional Deputy Directors
under whom he is working.
2) He shall be required to analyses and interpreted the various hydrogeological, Geological, drilling
metrological and such other data which are essential for the assessment of groundwater resources
of the State.
3) He shall be required to undertake both field and laboratory experiments to determine the various
data on aquifer characteristics of all rock formations.
4) He shall be required to undertake field studies of bed rock conditions of incomplete and
completed percolation tanks.
5) He shall be able to carry out chemical analyses of water samples and also be interprete and
analysis data on the quality of groundwater .
6) He will be required to undertake studies on artificial recharge to groundwater.
7) He shall be required to study the problem arising out of water logging, salinity and pollution of
groundwater.
8) He shall be required to prepare district wise reports on the hydrogeological surveys made by the
GSDA.
9) He shall be required to collect, interprete data on the hydrogeological conditions of the alluvial
and sedimentary rock formation of the State.
10) He shall be able to plan for undertaking development programme by constructions of tube wells
in alluvial and sedimentary rock formation of the State.
11) He shall be required to collect all the Hydrogeological metrological, irrigation agricultural and
other data which are required for making proper assessment of ground water potential.
12) He shall be required to attend to all other work as may be assigned to him by the Director , and
the Regional Deputy Director of the GSDA under whom he will be working.
