DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST OF
INSECTICIDE EXPERT (OFFICER)
Add No ‐ 276/2012
1) To apprise himself through monitoring field information of degrees of infestation of public
health importance and rodents .
2) To formulate organizational pattern and to devise modes of controlling insects and rodents of
public health importance.
3) To suggest suitable engineering measures for accomplishing species sanitation for the control
of mosquitoes and rats .
4) To adopt biological control measures for mosquito control wherever possible .
5) To select suitable larvicides and pesticides for routine use .
6) To arrange to maintain relevant records in respect of different mosquitoes situations such
as well, water storage tanks, fountains , swimming pools, mill ponds, village ponds , etc.
7) To accord permission as per provisions of the B. M. C. Act
(a) To dig and to retain surface wells.
(b) To sink and to retain tube wells.
(c) To construct water fountains garden tanks , masonry tanks.
(d) To construct and/or to retain water storage tanks .
8) To attend to public grievances relating to insect and pest nuisance through ward P.C.Os.
9) To recommend pesticides, spraying equipments, and their suppliers for the purchase through
controller of stores.
10) To recruit Night Rat Killers, Labourer, Field workers, superior Field Workers as and when
necessary in consonance with the laid down rules.
11) To arrange proper allocation of staff to effect transfer and to institute disciplinary actions
against the erring staff.
12) To train, guide and supervise the working of P.C.Os. in the wards with the help of his
assistants.
13) To organize and to attend to the work of mosquito Abatement committee committee and
Rodent control Advisory committee and to take following actions.
