Name of the Post – Live Stock Development Officer, Maharashtra Animal Husbandry Services, Group-A.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Livestock development Officer working in the different Section of the Department are inter transferable.
The duties and responsibilities expected are as under -
(1) Control of out-breaks and treatment of Livestock against various diseases.
(2) To carry out vaccination to Livestock to prevent outbreak of various diseases.
(3) To carry out Post-mortem examination as per the provisions of Maharashtra Veterinary Practitioners Act and issue certificate if declared as competent authority under the various acts.
(4) To render help to the officers incharge of the Farms, Poultry Projects, etc; in breeding, multiplication and management of improved, breed of livestock.
(5) To carry out Artificial Insemination of Cattle to improved breeds for milk production.
(6) To carry out castration of animals.
(7) To collect compile and assess data for better economic planning.
(8) To activity participate Individual beneficiary oriented programme and ar9ea development programme including component plan and tribal plan.
(9) Supervision of work of Assistant Livestock Development Officer, Livestock Supervisors and render guidance for efficient working of the Institution.
(10) The Livestock Development Officer will be responsible for submission of the periodical returns in respect of outbreaks attended vaccinations and castrations carried out. Artificial Inseminations done every month and also to maintain necessary registers, those will be required to be maintained
according to the Institutions, where they are posted.
(11) To provide assistance in propagation of fodder purpose of Livestock.
(12) If required, then have to provide assistance in marketing Livestock Products and preparation of Sera and Vaccines and assist in Investigation of diseases, analysis samples.
(13) Supervise the office work including accounts settlements of audit paras, O.B.A. Items, Utilisation certificates, recovery of Loans, etc;.
(14) To work as Livestock Development Officer incharge of the Veterinary Dispensary and to undertake major / Minor operation of animals.
(15) To work as Livestock Development Officer (Extension) to supervise all activities at Panchayat Samiti level.
(16) To encourage Co-operative efforts in the field of production of milk and products and their marketing.
(17) To educate people in the matter of care of cattle their improvement and proper use.
(18) The specific duties of Extension Officer (A.H.) would be as indicated below:-
(I) To prepare a working plan and takes steps for its implementation in regards to upgrading the local
cattle breed, castration of scrub bull, improvement of grass land, introduction of new varieties of
grass, use of balance feed, mass vaccination, poultry development sheep, Development Special
Programme for weaker section.
(ii) To organise education propaganda, exhibitions, prize competition demonstration and provide to
people available help from Government and other sources promptly.
